Fall Family Fun!
We know, we know...it's still summer, technically.
Still, it's never too early to think about those crisp, fall mornings, or visualize the changing leaves....ooooh, or plan for the plethora of apple recipes.
There are so many ways to get active with your little ones this fall!
Apple picking! How fun it is to visit apple orchards in all areas of the country. Most orchards feature different varietals of apples every 2-3 weeks. You can spend an entire day walking around, picking apples (trying to keep your little ones from eating all the apples before you get home) and just enjoying the outdoors with your family.
From the Washington Apple Commission:
- Red Delicious. Crunchy and Mildly Sweet. Snack away!
- Gala. Crisp and Very Sweet. Mmmmmm. Bite right in!
- Fuji. Crunchy and Super Sweet.
- Granny Smith. Crunchy and Tart. We LOVE to bake with these.
- Honeycrisp. Crisp and Distinctly Sweet.
- Golden Delicious. Crisp and Sweet.
Apples aren't just for baking anymore either. Check out some of these healthy recipes using apples in all ways! Pssst, try the apple pie smoothie.
Have you ever hiked through a field of sunflowers? Their towering, yellow-hued, monstrous beauty is simply breathtaking to see in these famous sunflower fields across the country.
Speaking of hikes, fall is the perfect time to find unique trails and even venture out on longer treks with your little ones while the weather is a bit cooler and, of course, the scenery is amazing.
