A Mother's Day to Remember

Posted by: Kate Jwaskiewicz, Owner MOMLETA Syracuse on Sunday, May 10, 2020

Mother's Day - a day dedicated to celebrating motherhood, maternal bonds, and maternal influence.  In modern times, it has become a day of pampering mothers. It's a day of spa treatments, wine with friends, solo trips to movie theaters and malls. It's safe to say that in our current state, most of these gifts will be saved for the future. Instead, we will remain at home this year with our loved ones and celebrating our role as mom in a much different way.

“All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.”
— Abraham Lincoln

This is Mother's Day 2020.

Each year this day is so very special for mothers and mother figures (and the little ones who love them). The need to share the special moments that we will remember for years to come is more important than ever as we continue to navigate our days. While most of us may be physically separated from our extended family members, here are a few of the memories we can still make on this day celebrating the love, kindness and strength of mothers.

“When you look into your mother’s eyes, you know that is the purest love you can find on this earth.”
—  Mitch Albom

There will be homemade cards with tiny messy thumbprints and misspelled words.

There will be breakfast in bed.

There will be homemade iMovies.

There will be a kiss and an empathetic and promising look from partners.

There will be dancing in the living-room and flowers.

There will be hugs and kisses and "Mama, look at me, look at me!"

We'll remember this day that brought relief from weeks of uncertainty, isolation, tantrums (by kids and adults alike), exhaustion, tears and silent fear. Because Mother's Day isn't just a day to pamper all the mothers (and mother figures who are also moms in EVERY SINGLE WAY) who shine every last light of their own on the ones who need them most. Instead, it's a day for all of us to celebrate the incredibly special love a mother gives.

Today is the perfect day to remember that you are a blessing to your children. Remember that you are exactly what your little ones need. And today, you deserve time to relax and celebrate your role as Mother.

Repeat after us:

"I am a GREAT mother." Yes. You are.

"I honor ALL mothers." Every single type of mother. Everywhere.

“A wise mother knows: It is her state of consciousness that matters. Her gentleness and clarity command respect. Her love creates security.”— Vimala McClure

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
