In Laura's Words
"After I had my first baby almost 4 years ago, I suffered from postpartum depression and anxiety and combined with being a first time mom; I dealt with it by isolating myself at home for a long time. I did not do the healthy things that were important like incorporating exercising into my life. I was stuck in a rut and it kind of became my new “normal”.
"A year and half ago, I had my second baby and I was determined to change my ways. When he was about 7 months old, I decided to get out of the house and try to incorporate some exercise into my life. I ended up at the mall before it opened to walk and I happened across a group of women working out together. I was intrigued so I circled around again and that is when Kasey Johnson came running up to me with her card and said to come back to try a free class.
"That day changed everything for me.
"I was nervous, but the next day I tried it and I was hooked. Fast forward to over a year later, and life is so different- in such a good way. I have such an amazing group of women that I get to work out with every day and now I call these women my dear friends. Since joining this group, I have gained confidence, strength, a love for working out, support and love from them and most importantly, I have gained my health back- both physically and mentally. I can’t say enough about MOMLETA and how much of a saving grace it was for me. Now we move ahead to MOLO.
"MOLO has been a whirlwind of ups and downs. Most importantly, it has been full of positive changes. I was so excited to start my first MOLO and really wanted to put my all into it. Thankfully we have such amazing instructors that guided us through the 8 weeks, pushed us, encouraged us to keep going and of course an amazing owner that set up so many fun MOLO events that allowed me try many different forms of exercise through classes, group events and educational guest speakers. I have learned so much about myself and how much more I am able to do than I had previously thought.
"I pushed myself more than I ever have and I came out stronger at the end. The friendships and love I have gained throughout this challenge are more than I could have asked for. I love all of these mamas (instructors included, obvi) and they have showed me nothing but support and for that I am forever grateful. I showed up, I challenged myself and I did not quit. That’s a win in my book. YESSSS to MOLO 2020! Love to all!"
"Thank you for the opportunity to provide some insight to the level of commitment and dedication of our 2020 MOLO Winner, Laura Girndt. I've been a member of MOMLETA (formerly Baby Boot Camp) for 10 years. I've witnessed many transformations during that time. I am a HUGE proponent of MOLO, because I remember what it did for me - the path that it set me on. She stood out: I met Laura Girndt through MOMLETA. When she joined, she was very quiet. It almost seemed as though she tried not to be noticed. Despite that, she stood out. You know those people who touch you in such a way, in this industry, who remind you this is exactly why you do this kind of work? The way in which the reward of being a Personal Trainer far exceeds anything you could've ever imagined? Well, that is who Laura Girndt is to me. It's because of gems like her, I cannot imagine doing anything else.
"How it all started: I noticed Laura pushing herself to try the more difficult levels of our program - she started at Level 1 with modifications, then as she started to get stronger, she challenged herself to try Level 2 and Level 3 exercises. This didn't come easy. She had to accept that failure is part of the process. She had to accept that every workout isn't perfect. She had to accept some days she couldn't come to class, because life throws us curve balls. Then, times got really tough: While I continued to be impressed by this very strong woman, suddenly she was gone for a couple of weeks. I learned she had a young son dealing with a very serious health condition. She didn't ask for help. She carried this hardship very quietly. When she returned, she expressed that she felt like all of her progress had been lost. But, as you can imagine, that was not the case.
"Soon, it was time for MOLO. MOLO 2020 Laura is the epitome of a National MOLO Winner. If we asked something of her, she did it. If we didn't ask, she did it. At the time MOLO started, Laura was not a runner. By the end of MOLO, Laura was a runner. If she couldn't do something, she tried. If she failed, she tried until she could. When she felt discouraged, she sent out messages of support to other members of the group. She is selfless. She is relentless. She is a tremendous supporter of our MOMLETA community. Our members were asked to vote for the member they felt worked the hardest during MOLO 2020, and, as you can imagine, Laura received that nomination. In addition to that, she blew her stats out of the window. Laura Grindt: It's amazing what MOMLETA does for moms, women, etc. Laura Girndt is a testament for what some moms, women, do for MOMLETA. I cannot think of anyone more deserving in my 10 years of being a part of this incredible organization." -Idalisa Gordon
"MOLO 2020 was a life-changing and very challenging time for all our Moms. If I have to nominate one person from the MOMLETA Frisco, Plano and Little Elm location, I would choose Laura Girndt. She has been a member for a little over a year and I have really seen her challenge herself and make changes over the last 8 weeks.
"Many people would have given up after the circumstances that we have experienced over the last 3 -4 weeks across the country, but Laura kept going strong. She is constantly motivating and encouraging the other moms as well, posting about her workouts, her successes and when she feels like she needs a push – she asks for help and I think that’s a huge part of growth…knowing when you need help or motivation.
"She inspires me.
"Laura lost a total of 10.5 inches. Had an overall increase in reps of 126. (Our fitness testing was the 5 min AMRAP challenge and then push-ups, burpees, right and left lunges in a 60 second challenge format.) She also increased flexibility and was our top point earner, voted on by her peers as the MOLO winner and was the clear winner when the instructors got together to analyze winners. What I love about Laura and her story is that she made a conscious change to do things differently after she had her second baby. She happened upon MOMLETA and it shifted her life for the better. Signing up for MOLO was the extra push she needed to make lifestyle changes and habits and I couldn’t be more proud of how well she did. I have seen the fire light within her and it’s been a beautiful thing to witness, and I see her fire burning strong for others to see for many years to come! Congratulations to Laura and all of our MOLO Mamas!" - Kasey Johnson
